ZUDEMA (tzu dhe' ma): the place of dreams. “It is said that, when one sleeps, one's mind walks to another place, leaving the body behind. In this place, many things are known.”

In old legends, there are many truths, though not all are as they appear. Perhaps not all of the knowledge in the world is revealed in dreams, perhaps not even the simple wisdoms, but dreams do tell a great deal about the dreamer. In those landscapes shaped by the unconscious mind, there are reoccurring themes, expressed feelings, and subconscious apparitions. Some are nothing more than reflections of previous experiences, while others are random day dreams, but some do show trends of thought, mental preoccupations. These are the things that might help us know the self, recognize what churns behind the mind.

These are the things i find interesting in my dreams: these patterns, these reoccurrences. This is what keeps me interested in recording what i see when i walk Zudema. As one who tries not to be concerned with what others think of me (still trying), and who tries to have no information hidden from others (ask and i will tell), i offer these thoughts to others. Perhaps someone will find something in them that i do not see. Perhaps this is one of the best ways for people to understand who i am.

My mind tells me such strange things...” — Damian Tracy
