I wandered through the buildings of the city with $Z. The older man was walking with us, telling us of the buildings as we passed. The man was guiding us on a tour of the city. His old face was wrinkled, and he wore dull yellow robes, like a wizard. He seemed to be a special man, so i asked him if he was a mystic. He smiled with amusement and told me that he was a professor. He told us of the university here, and how all of the people used to come to learn. The university must have been a great place, but it seemed empty now, just like the rest of the city. I asked the professor where all of the people had gone. He continued to walk through the wide halls of the stone building, as though he had not heard what i had said. I knew that he had heard me, though. I thought about these things as we continued through the university. I wondered if Koyur was one of the people who lived in this place, but decided that he could not have been. Koyur was from the highlands in the north. He was a mythical creature from the forests in the steep mountains. It then occurred to me that i had never read any of these myths. I had simply known about Koyur. I wondered how i had known. We were not walking through the large library at the university. Out of curiosity, i asked the learned man why he was still in this place, why had be not left with the others. He told me that he had stayed to keep the books. There were several others with him who guarded the information at the university. He said that they were called “the Predde”. I did not know the word, but i knew that it must mean something, so i thought i would have to look it up in the dictionary when i got home. I could use my large dictionary.
